New Watch Plant Completed in Yamagata, Japan
For Integrated Production of Key Components through Finished Products

Norderstedt, April 24, 2018 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced that Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd., its manufacturing subsidiary in Japan, today completed construction of a new watch plant.

The new plant brings under one roof the manufacturing of components and finished products, which were previously made at separate facilities, to increase production efficiency for watches, a mainstay product category for Casio. Construction of the facility began in July 2017, and with it now being completed, operations will commence in May.

The dedicated watch facility leverages Casio's advanced manufacturing technology to integrate the manufacturing of gears and other key components through the precision assembly of high-quality timepieces.

The facility manufactures minute rotor and gear drive components with micron-level precision and assembles analog movements that incorporate these components. In addition to being used to make finished products at the facility, the analog movements will also be supplied to Casio plants in China and Thailand.

In finished products, the facility manufactures high-end models of G-SHOCK shock-resistant watches as well as OCEANUS high-performance analog watches on its Premium Production Line. This line leverages the advanced skills of a select team of certified technicians and precision mechanical technology to manufacture products.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. will continue working closely with Yamagata Casio, which is the core of the Casio global production system, to further leverage 3D design data and deploy advanced technologies including IoT, AI, and robotics in the engineering chain of development, design, and production, thereby realizing the stable supply of products with even greater quality.
