Casio to Release New Mercury-Free Projector with 20,000-Hour Light Source
3,500 ANSI Lumens WXGA Real Model Projector for Presentations and Digital Signage
TOKYO, May 21, 2012 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that it plans to release a new projector, the XJ-H2650, in July of this year. The XJ-H2650 will be the latest addition to Casio’s lineup of projectors, equipped with an original mercury-free light source with a roughly 20,000-hour lifespan, and it will deliver WXGA (1280 x 800 dot) high-brightness projection of 3,500 ANSI lumens.
Casio released the first projector to use its original Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source in April 2010, achieving high brightness without the use of a high-pressure mercury lamp. That model also boasted a light source life of about 20,000 hours, which reduces maintenance and cuts operating costs, while achieving projection at maximum brightness as quickly as five seconds from startup. Due to this and other superior features, it has earned a strong reputation.
The XJ-H2650 is a 3,500 ANSI lumens WXGA model that is well-suited to bigger venues such as medium-size halls and to bright environments such as retail stores. The new projector will offer the same excellent features as the existing models, such as a light source life of about 20,000 hours, and also boasts new functions useful for presentations and digital signage. It comes fully equipped for a wide variety of uses.
Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source
The XJ-H2650 projector achieves high brightness projection of 3,500 ANSI lumens using a mercury-free light source by projecting three colors through a DLP® chip: red emitted by a high-lumen red LED, green converted
from blue laser light with a phosphor, and blue emitted by a high-lumen blue LED.
Custom Logo can be saved and utilized for startup screen
Users can capture and save projection screen data and utilize it for the startup screen when presenting.
Keylock function prevents incorrect operation and undesired access
The projector can be disabled using key operation on the main unit, making it secure for projecting digital signage in retail settings.
Energy-saving Intelligent Brightness Control
Integrated light sensors automatically adjust the projection brightness level according to the ambient lighting. This reduces power consumption by as much as 63%.*1
*1. Reduction compared with power consumption for Eco Mode Level 5 (120 W), using power consumption for Bright Mode (330 W) as a baseline reference.
Presentations can be given using a smartphone or USB memory
With the XJ-H2650, users can give wireless presentations using a smartphone*2 or computer that supports wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11 b/g), or project data*3 from a USB memory device.
*2. Smartphone or other mobile device must be installed with MobiShow® software for AndroidTM, Apple iOS or Windows Mobile®.
*3. Certain types of data may need to be converted using the bundled computer software, before saving to a USB memory device.
Users can use Intractive Pointer (sold separately), which enables them to point at the projection screen and operate the PC
DLP® 3D projection function can project powerful 3D images, viewable using 3D glasses (sold separately)
Also in July, Casio will release the XJ-H2600 projector with basic features only and 3,500 ANSI lumens output.
