Casio Projector XJ-V1 Wins Projector of the Year Award at the 2016 AV Awards Event

TOKYO, October 14, 2016 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that its lamp-free projector Core XJ-V1 has won the Projector of the Year (under 4,999 lumens) at the 2016 AV Awards.

The AV Awards is one of the most celebrated and highly-regarded audio visual industry events, and is organized by the UK's leading industry publication AV Magazine. Entries are carefully judged for evidence of technical innovation, user benefits, and commercial success.

The XJ-V1 took the world education market by storm on its release in 2015. It impressed the judges with its affordability and ease of use, thus was commended for bringing the benefits of lamp-free projection to wider audience. Casio aims to help reduce the burden on the environment by promoting the shift to a lamp-free standard in the projector market. The success of the Core XJ-V1 among end users led to the development of a further three Core models, which debuted at ISE 2016.

Now in its 18th year, the annual AV Awards ceremony showed the incredible growth in the industry over the past year, with a record-breaking 1,200 professionals attending the awards, and seven additional awards introduced for this year's event. The award ceremony took place this year at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 30th September, 2016.

Casio is a leading manufacturer of projectors, and holds a global market share of 73%* for lamp-free projectors with 2,500 lumens or more. Casio developed a laser & LED hybrid light source technology ahead of its global competitors and succeeded in making all of its projectors lamp-free. As a result, Casio projectors no longer use lamps, which contain harmful mercury.
*Based on global sales volume by manufacturer from January to December 2015 according to Futuresource Consulting Ltd.
