Casio to Release OCEANUS Watch Inspired by the Alluring Image of Earth at Night from Space
Receives Both GPS and Radio Wave Time-Calibration Signals

BASEL, March 18, 2015 – Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of the latest addition to the OCEANUS line of solar-powered radio-controlled metal watches designed to capture the essence of elegance and technology. The OCEANUS OCW-G1000S is inspired by the alluring image of Earth at night viewed from space, and will be produced in an exclusive, limited run of only 300 watches worldwide.

Every OCEANUS solar-powered, radio-controlled watch delivers outstanding functionality in a full metal case with a refined, sporty European design. The OCEANUS OCW-G1000 watch has proven to be a favorite of international businesspeople, with its hybrid timekeeping system that receives both Global Positioning System (GPS) and radio wave time-calibration signals to deliver accurate time anywhere in the world.

The new OCW-G1000S watch is based on the OCW-G1000 watch and is a special model that is inspired by the Earth at night viewed from space. Just as the Earth seems to hang brightly against the backdrop of space, the inset dials and button at the four o'clock position feature a gold-colored finish, while the XII lettering at the top of the face is finished in luminous 18-karat gold. The vivid gold highlights are wonderfully offset against a dark black face. Recrystallized blue sapphire*¹ brings to mind the clear blue image of Earth. The entire glass is made from recrystallized blue sapphire, to represent the blue oceans that cover the entire planet. The bezel, case and band feature a wear- and scratch-resistant DLC coating,*² while the back case is engraved with a serial number, giving the watch the appropriate presence of a special model.
*1 Recrystallized blue sapphire is a man-made gemstone with the same chemical composition as the real article, realized through Kyocera Corporation's proprietary gemstone synthesis and crystallization technologies. It is notable for its beautiful color and having the same hardness as genuine sapphire.
*2 Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings produce an uncrystallized, hard carbon coating mainly of hydrogen and carbon.

Just like the model it is based on, the OCW-G1000, the new OCW-G1000S watch offers superb functionality and corrects the time according to the region where the user is, with either GPS or radio wave time-calibration signals, in as little as only seven seconds with just a push of the button. The new watch also features Dual Dial World Time, which simultaneously displays the time in two different cities.
