PRESS RELEASE
March 07, 2008

Welcome to instrument testing - CASIO at Music Fair 2008

On its habitual spot - hall 5.0, corridor A, stand 48 - CASIO Europe GmbH proves its competence in sound technology, inviting visitors to put the current keyboard and digital piano range to the test. The newly designed fair booth welcomes all keyboard fans with an open atmosphere and invites everyone to test the instruments. Yet CASIO will not only present its newest selection of instruments, but will also inform about activities and promotions in support of active playing with the "Let's Make Music" initiative, for instance. Already at education fair DIDACTA in Stuttgart in February, CASIO showed its colours with regard to committed talent promotion.

After CASIO successfully introduced three new PRIVIA models to the market towards the end of 2007, the Japanese company will present new models in three further instrument categories at the Music Fair. In the standard keyboard bracket, CTK-2000 should set antennas buzzing, in the lighting key category, LK-220 proves its educational qualities and in the CELVIANO family, AP-200 scores thanks to its convincing grand piano sounds.

CTK-2000/LK-220
Accompaniment around the globe: CTK-2000 is the successor of CTK-720 and LK-220 replaces LK-210. Both of these new instruments contain the novel 48-note polyphonic AHL sound chip (Acoustic & Highly Compressed Large Waveform) guaranteeing high quality sound.

400 clearly defined tones combine with 150 rhythms from all genres and all over the world to yield the multifaceted sound universe of these beginner instruments. New pop and rock rhythms provide for cutting edge accompaniments, Oriental, Indian, Japanese, Eastern European or Latin American styles take you on a musical journey around the world. In the auto-accompaniment itself a valuable feature was added, the ON Bass Chord. Depending upon the chord pitch the bass note changes; the deepest note in the chord is the reference for the bass note.

A feature with fun factor: Both instruments command an Line in audio input - in LK-220 it is an addional Mic input - for connecting an external sound source like a CD or MP3 player. Using the loudspeaker in the keyboard players can hear their favourite song as a backing track while they play along the keyboard part. The sampling function is another highlight worth mentioning: Recordings of up to one second can be played on the keyboard.

The joy of learning: With CASIO's new Step Up lesson system leads to success step by step: As in traditional music education, the rehearsal tune is divided into individual phrases (bar sections), which then are learnt step by step. Phrase by phrase, the tune is acquired with the 3-step method and eventually played flawlessly after sufficient repetition. This concept of smaller lesson units derives from the revised step order - step 1: Listen, step 2: Look, step 3: Remember - and yields keen motivation and rapid success. A large, user-friendly display yields an optimal representation of the individual rehearsal instructions and lesson steps in both lighting key instrument LK-220 and keyboard CTK-2000 and supports the general convenience of the instruments with its overview for the selection of functions.

CELVIANO AP-200
Entering at top level: With new AP-200 starting out in the CELVIANO class becomes a light bulb experience. The eleven tones in AP-200 are based upon high performance AiF sound generation, which already is making itself heard in the newest PRIVIA generation. Applying a demanding filter technology the sumptuous AiF sound generation enables subtle differences in volume and sound nuances depending on the power of the stroke, thus rendering the complex sound of a grand piano with extreme authenticity. In addition to 128-note polyphony this instrument features a scaled hammer action keyboard. Moreover, additional functions like, for instance, a recording system (2 tracks, 1 song, 5,000 notes) a layer and split feature as well as numerous terminals (2 headphone terminals, MIDI-IN/MIDI-OUT). In sum, AP-200 commends itself for all committed and demanding beginners.
