New executive management at Casio Europe GmbH
Kazuyuki Yamashita takes on position of Managing Director, heading up all divisions at the company.

Norderstedt, July 6th. 2009 - The European headquarters of the electronics group Casio are under new management: Kazuyuki Yamashita took the company’s top post as of May 1st., 2009 and is now responsible for the expansion of the company’s various product fields throughout Europe.

The 47-year-old Yamashita, who has over 24 years of experience at Casio in various countries, including 11 years in Italy, UK and Germany, is the successor to the previous Managing Director, Hiroshi Nakamura, who has taken on a new position as Managing Director at the group’s headquarters in Japan, where he will be responsible for global sales and marketing activities.

Yamashita’s most recent role was as Senior General Manager of Casio America Inc. in the United States, where he was responsible for the company’s digital camera business in North America. The main task Yamashita faces in his new position as Managing Director of Casio Europe GmbH is to continue the process that the company has successfully begun toward corporate expansion and the development and expansion of a consistent brand image in all fields of business in the European market.

Yoshiyuki Kuroda, who has more than 25 years of experience with Casio, will continue to work at Yamashita’s side as Deputy Managing Director.

“The establishment of Casio affiliates in France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia over the past five years has created the structural conditions for us to achieve our ambitious objectives in Europe,” Yamashita says. “The new challenges that I will be facing as Managing Director of Casio Europe GmbH are especially appealing to me, and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute toward the success of this company in Europe,” he continues.

Kuroda, who was responsible for the System Business since 2001 and Corporate Business Planning since 2005 at Casio Europe GmbH, adds: “The dynamic development our company has undergone in Europe forms the basis for our future actions, and I am confident that we will continue to successfully expand our position as a leading company in the key markets in Europe.”

Casio in general:
CASIO is a leading international manufacturer of consumer electronics. In line with the principle of “creativity and contribution,” the company has been dedicated to developing products that stand out for their cutting-edge technology and innovative design ever since it was founded, in 1957.
Today, the product palette of CASIO around the world includes watches, digital cameras, mobile phones (not in the EU), electronic dictionaries, calculators, musical instruments, projectors, cash register systems, handheld terminals, and electronic components such as LCDs (not in the EU). In total, CASIO Computer Co., Ltd. employs a staff of more than 12,300 people worldwide. The company ships more than 100 million products each year, and in the fiscal year from April 2008 to March 2009 alone, CASIO posted net sales revenue of 518 billion yen (about 3.8 billion Euros).
In the course of the company’s international expansion, the sales subsidiary CASIO Computer Co. GmbH Deutschland was founded in Hamburg in 1972. In 1994, CASIO moved to the Norderstedt Business Park. Then, in 2002, CASIO moved its European headquarters from London to Norderstedt, and CASIO Computer Co. GmbH become CASIO Europe GmbH. The new entity has since been responsible for all sales and marketing activities for the entire region of Europe and serves Germany and Austria directly. Alongside the favorable conditions existing at the Norderstedt location, the main reasons for the company’s relocation of responsibility for European operations to Germany also included proximity to other Continental locations and easy access to the most important markets in Western and in Eastern Europe.
At the beginning of 2009, CASIO moved to the NORDPORT development in order to meet the increasingly challenging mobility and logistics requirements that apply to a European head office with international operations. Companies in the UK, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Russia, along with a number of distributors in additional European countries, team with the European head office to form a network that ensures optimum sales and the utmost in quality.
