Power from two cores
Casio has expanded the IT-G500 product series by adding two new models equipped with Windows® Embedded Compact 7 to provide optimum support for memory-hungry, power-intensive applications. With WEC7 you can benefit the full power of the dual-core processor and effectively utilise the total physical RAM. The excellent 4.3" display with multi-contact touch screen and the enhanced read performance for identification codes guarantee the highest level of performance.

With the IT-G500 all-in-one handheld device, presented at the beginning of 2015, Casio offers powerful hardware with optimum user-friendliness in an extremely robust and compact housing. In addition to the seven models equipped with Windows® Embedded Handheld 6.5, there are two more units featuring Compact 7. "Thanks to the multi-processor support and higher storage limits, the real-time operating system can make full use of the hardware that our Japanese development team has built into the IT-G500. This hardware allows application programmers to develop visually attractive applications with intuitive user guidance", explains Thomas Uppenkamp, Head of the Mobile Industrial Solutions division at Casio Europe in Norderstedt, Germany. "The combination of innovative hardware and proven operating systems means that the device represents a secure investment over many years and is suitable for a great number of demanding applications."
The Casio IT-G500 is extremely robust, comfortably ergonomic and just as powerful as its versatile functionality. It is extremely resistant to external influences as well as water and dust (IP67), can cope with temperature fluctuations (-20°C to +50°C) and can withstand being dropped onto concrete from a height of 1.5 m. Thanks to the additional bumper, the handheld is even more robust. Weighing around 270 grams, the device is easy to hold and can be operated like a smartphone via the large 4.3" touchscreen with a 480 x 800-pixel resolution.
The IT-G500 handheld terminal is available either with a laser scanner for barcodes or with a CMOS imager for all common 1D and 2D codes. Scanning takes place on a 25° downwards diagonal, which ensures that the scanning process is extremely quick and intuitive, as the display can be read while scanning is in progress. Confirmation of successful scanning via a vibration function further contributes to increasing efficiency in noisy environments.
Integrated band-pass filters are a significant new addition when it comes to working areas equipped with modern LED lighting. These filters prevent interference caused by the high-frequency flickering of LED lamps. Combined with optimised decoder algorithms and an enhanced stabilisation process, the integrated band-pass filters ensure a higher level of read performance in challenging environments.
In addition to the versions equipped with optical reading modules, several models of the IT-G500 are available with an integrated NFC/RFID module. You can read and record all common tags at high speed. Common protocols in the field of contactless smart cards and near field communication (NFC) are supported. A digital camera (5 MP) is integrated into the rear of the device. This camera features a high sensitivity level, auto focus and LED flash for reliable photographic documentation, even under poor lighting conditions. The current location can be easily determined and processed using the position coordinates of the integrated GPS.
The Casio IT-G500 handheld is extremely powerful, with a 1.5 GHz ARM® Cortex® A9 Dual Core Processor, 1GB RAM and 4 GB F-ROM. Microsoft® Windows® Embedded Compact 7 or Embedded Handheld 6.5 enables use in demanding applications. For fast data communication, BluetoothTM, WLAN (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n), 3G WAN (HSPA, UMTS) and a USB interface are integrated into the IT-G500 along with a SIM card slot and a MicroSD slot. Depending on the model, the built-in microphone and speaker allow you to make voice calls as well as record voice memos.
