Lightweight, ergonomic and extremely robust...

The new DT-970 scanner terminal, which was designed specifically for retail and intralogistics applications such as inventory data collection, features some impressive specifications: Weighing in at just 215 grams, it offers 200 hours of battery life when used with standard batteries, can withstand being dropped from heights of up to two metres and features protection against water and dust in accordance with IP67.

"The robust DT-970 scanner terminal is a great-value handy terminal device that is suitable for use in all areas of intralogistics. It takes standard batteries, making it ideal for use in non-stop operation in the retail and service sectors and in industry", explains Thomas Uppenkamp, Head of Mobile Industrial Solutions at CASIO Europe GmbH, Norderstedt, Germany. "Now there is no need to keep special batteries charged — simply insert two AA batteries, and carry on with your work. Our Japanese engineers have optimised the useful features of the DT-970 and reduced the number of functionalities that do not provide much added value, with the result that the device now offers up to 200 hours of mobile use and extremely ergonomic handling — making this new scanner terminal one of the best on the market."
The CASIO DT-970 can be used at operating temperatures of between -20ºC and +50ºC, has the IP67 protection rating and can withstand falls from heights of up to two metres.
The scanner terminal features an illuminated numeric keypad and programmable function keys, as well as a central trigger button and two side buttons for initiating the scanning process. With its powerful laser scanner, the terminal can detect all standard 1D and stacked codes, even if the barcodes are faded or damaged. The monochrome 2.3" display is particularly high-contrast and features white and red background lighting, so if a reading or operating error occurs, the user can be visually alerted to this by means of the rapidly changing colour on the display, in addition to an audible signal.
Depending on the type of application, terminals can be selected with a straight or angled scanner head. Scanning takes place in a forwards direction or on a downwards diagonal. This ensures that the scanning process is extremely quick and intuitive, as it is possible to read off the display while scanning is in progress. The vibrating scan confirmation function helps make the terminal even more efficient.
The CASIO DT-970 is supplied "ready to use" with two alkaline batteries (size AA), which allow for approx. 200 hours of operation. The device is equipped with Bluetooth® and IrDA capabilities and a USB interface for transferring data.
"This ergonomic hand-held terminal is primarily designed for scanning", concludes Thomas Uppenkamp, "The device has been specifically designed to enable fast data collection in goods receipt and when taking inventories in the warehouse. Its well-balanced, S-shaped housing means that it fulfils the principle of human-centred design. One benefit of this design is that its three symmetrically arranged scan buttons allow both right-handed and left-handed users to use the device one-handed for hours at a time without tiring."

The CASIO DT-970 is supplied with either a straight or angled laser scanner. Three non-slip scan buttons give both right-handed and left-handed users the means to adopt a variety of working positions, thereby reducing finger movement to a minimum.
